The animators based their designs on the work of caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, and computers were used for both finishing the artwork and creating some animated elements. With the genie's help, Aladdin disguises himself as a wealthy prince and tries to impress the Sultan in order to win the heart of his free-spirited daughter, Princess Jasmine, as the Sultan's evil vizier Jafar plots to steal the magic lamp for his own uses. Featuring the voices of Scott Weinger, Robin Williams, Linda Larkin, and Jonathan Freeman, the film follows the titular Aladdin, an Arabian street urchin, who finds a magic lamp containing a genie. If you're playing an electric, don't forget to check your intonation regularly, especially when you've put on some new strings. Just don't obsess too much over it! A Few Words On Intonation It also offers a broader compromise for playing chords in different neck positions. This isn't absolutely necessary, but I've found this slightly flat tuning produces a sweeter sound on chords where the 2nd and 3rd strings voice the major 3rd. So slightly, that when you tune up you'll see the pitch dance between green and red (or the needle off-center to center). To compensate for this (and with the equal temperament tuning of guitars, it's always a delicate compromise), I tend to tune the 2nd and 3rd strings ever so slightly flat of their tuning pitch. Similarly, playing an open A major chord, or an A shape major barre chord, the 2nd string (which also voices the major 3rd) can sound a little sharp. Why I Tune The 2nd & 3rd Strings Slightly Flatīecause of the imperfect nature of fretted instruments, string gauges and equal temperament tuning, some chord shapes you'll play make the 2nd or 3rd string notes sound slightly sharp, particularly if those strings voice the major 3rd of the chord you're playing.įor example, if you play an open E major chord, or an E shape major barre chord, you may notice the 3rd string (which voices the major 3rd of the chord) typically sounds a little sharp. You can hear this effect more clearly when using string harmonics to tune up. Try to listen out for that swelling effect slowing down as I tune up to match the reference pitch. When the oscillation is no longer audible, you're in tune. Tune up as slowly as your fingers and the peg will allow, until that oscillation/swelling slows and it eventually becomes flat. This will maximise the tuning stability on your guitar because of how string tension is held more efficiently when it is tightened as opposed to loosened.Īs the pitch of your guitar's string gets closer to the tuner's voiced pitch, you'll hear a kind of rhythmic swelling or oscillating effect between the two pitches. So down tune the string first before raising it slowly in line with the desired pitch. Not only for convenience when tuning, but the skill also helps to make your ear more sensitive to pitch recognition in general.Īlways tune UP to the desired pitch. ❱ Try The Tune-O-Matic Tips for Tuning by Earīeing able to match the pitch of your string to one you hear is a skill that all musicians should work on developing. There are also a good range of preset tunings you can load, although not as many as the Pro. Although it has no mic/line-in feature, it does offer some useful features for ear tuning, such as auto advance, note repeat, instrument voicing and the ability to manually input your own tuning notes for each string. The TV should be at the correct height in relation to the sofa so that it is feels comfortable to view and you don’t have to look upwards or crane your neck to watch it. If this ruins the aesthetic or just isn’t possible in a small living room, then positioned to one side can work well too, such as in an alcove to one side of a fireplace. For an optimum viewing position, small living room TV ideas should ideally be placed central to the sofa. When deciding how to arrange furniture in a small living room, one issue that often crops up is where to place the TV. Where do you put the TV in a narrow living room? Varying sizes can create a different dynamic and solve the problem of furniture arrangement if the room has a challenging or awkwardly-shaped layout. Sectional in a small living room by Decorilla designer, Shofy D. There’s no hard and fast rule that says you can’t pair different sized pieces of furniture, such as a three-seater and a two-seater, or a long sofa with a cuddler seat. With how to arrange furniture in a small living room, always make sure that there is enough breathing space around furniture, so that people go around and not through the conversation area. If the room is a standard shape, such as a rectangular or square-sized living room, then positioning two same-sized sofas facing each other with a coffee table in between (and set central to the room’s focal point) can make a good fit. Modern loft living room with sectional sofa and concrete floors. Planning sofas in smaller spaces can be a challenge, however, there are some smart tricks to squeeze in two. Search results for Living room sectional in Home Design Ideas. How do I arrange two couches in a small living room? Using sectional furniture or modular pieces can be a good way of squeezing more seating into a small living room. The trick is not to group too much furniture in one area.’ 2. ‘If it’s a corner sofa or chaise, create balance with a coffee table or storage footstool and armchair to one side, which will add weight. ‘The balance of two sofas facing each other, or even a sofa and two armchairs, will always be visually appealing,’ says Charlie Marshall, founder of Loaf. Other items of furniture can be pushed back against walls and the TV set either side of the fireplace. Having seating positioned centrally guides visitors to walk around (rather than through) the space and helps keep the sense of flow. Often used by interior designers, a symmetrical layout works well in rooms big or small, creating a sociable set-up with sofa ideas for small living rooms opposite each other for easier conversation.Ī symmetrical layout also works well in living rooms where the entrance is across from a fireplace. One of the easiest ways for how to arrange furniture in a small living room is to opt for a symmetrical layout with two sofas (or a sofa and two chairs) positioned facing each other. Over 150 species of coral inhabit Palmyra Atoll, double the number recorded in Hawaii. The western reef terrace is one of the biggest shelf-reefs, with dimensions of 2 by 3 miles (3.2 by 4.8 km). It comprises three lagoons separated by coral reefs. The atoll comprises submerged sand flats along with dry land and reefs. Palmyra Atoll is part of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, the world's largest marine protected area. It is the second-to-northernmost of the Line Islands, and one of three American islands in the archipelago, along with Jarvis Island and Kingman Reef. There is one boat anchorage known as West Lagoon, accessible from the sea by a narrow artificial channel. The land area is 4.6 sq mi (12 km 2), with about 9 miles (14 km) of sea-facing coastline and reef. North America is about 3,300 miles (5,300 kilometers) northeast and New Zealand the same distance southwest, placing the atoll at the approximate center of the Pacific Ocean. It is located almost due south of the Hawaiian Islands, roughly one-third of the way between Hawaii and American Samoa. Palmyra Atoll ( / p æ l ˈ m aɪ r ə/), also referred to as Palmyra Island, is one of the Northern Line Islands (southeast of Kingman Reef and north of Kiribati). They often playfully banter and tease each other about old stories they know about each other. Ren - Ren is Alex's childhood best friend. When playing a round of "Marry, Screw, Kill" during the game of Truth-or-Slap, Jonas is exempt as he is "technically family" to Alex. In addition, during certain memory sequences in the game, Alex has the ability to convince Michael to stay in town and thus "resurrect" him later in the timeline, negating the step-sibling relationship with Jonas (as Alex's parents would have never divorced), but still having the option to bond with Jonas as a friend or "other-brother". Depending on the choices made by the player, Alex and Jonas can become closer and see each other truly as brother and sister, or remain distant. Because of this, Alex is somewhat wary of Jonas at the beginning of the game. Jonas - At the beginning of Oxenfree, it is stated that Alex and Jonas had just met each other for the first time, as Jonas had just moved in earlier that day.During certain memory sequences in the game, Alex has the ability to convince Michael to stay in town and thus "resurrect" him later in the timeline, and can influence whether or not he and Clarissa remain a couple or break up. The red jacket that Alex wears is a hand-me-down from Michael. Regardless of player choices, he will listen to her opinion in all situations. Michael - Michael is Alex's older brother, and the two of them have always shared a close "best-friend" bond.Alex's mother remarried, which brought her new step-brother Jonas into Alex's life. It is mentioned in-game that prior to Michael's death, Alex's parents were prone to fighting and, eventually, following Michael's death, their marriage fell apart and ended with their divorce. Ren states that he managed to pass the test while overdosing on a large amount of cough syrup and that, in comparison, Alex would have been able to do excellent on it. Clarissa clearly states multiple times that she holds Alex entirely accountable for Michael's death, and states in addition that the town of Camena looks at Alex as if she has a "red letter tattooed on her forehead" because of that.Īfter Michael dies, it is implied that Alex grows more rebellious (possibly acting out in grief), choosing to skip a school placement aptitude test at school so that she could bring an amplifier to Ren's barnyard concert in Salem. This ultimately led to Michael drowning as Alex watched from the wayside, unable to help due to her poor or total lack of swimming skills. Alex wanted for them to hang out one last time before he left, so they both went swimming at Horn Lake. Michael claimed he intended to teach Alex how to swim at the pool the following week, though it is unknown if those plans were followed up.īefore Michael graduated he asked for Alex's blessing to leave town for college and live on his own with Clarissa. One year prior to the beginning of Oxenfree, Alex, Michael, and Clarissa took a trip to Edwards Island together so they could all spend the day out together. She was once arrested for grand theft auto as she and her friend Ashley borrowed a car without permission to go to a concert, much to Michael's reprimanding afterward. She also grew up around Clarissa, Michael's girlfriend at the time. She grew up very close to her brother Michael and childhood friend Ren. In memory sequences, Alex has her natural auburn hair and wears a blue striped shirt with a blue button-up denim jacket, jeans, and white sneakers, as well as Michael's red jacket.Īlex lives in the town of Camena, Oregon, with her family. She also wears an over-sized red hunting jacket that once belonged to Michael. She wears a blue raglan shirt, light wash skinny jeans that are ripped at the knees and rolled up at the bottom, a loosely wrapped string choker around her neck, and work boots. It is implied in-game that she dyed her hair after her brother Michael's death, but there is one existing polaroid photo of Michael and Alex in which she already has her teal hair. Before the game's events, she is shown to have auburn hair. Her general disposition is witty and sarcastic, but player choices can determine whether or not she is more negative or positive towards other characters.Īlex has brown skin, reddish brown eyes, and teal-dyed hair that is tied up into a high ponytail. From 2014, Baghdad has regularly cut budget allocations to the KRG to pressure the region over its independent oil exports. The ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party controls Erbil and Duhok provinces, while the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan governs Sulaimani province.īarzani expressed worries that Baghdad could make further budget cuts to the Kurdistan region in the future. The budget also includes a clause allowing Baghdad to intervene in intra-Kurdish disputes over funding allocations. The budget sets "unhelpful precedents for the KRG" with the requirement to hand over its crude to SOMO, Wahab said, and will "fundamentally impact the KRG's ability to make financial decisions." For now, the budget will stand in for the oil and gas law, weakening the KRG's hand, by putting its financing in the hands of SOMO, said Bilal Wahab, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. In a statement June 13, KRG president Nechirvan Barzani said the way the budget was passed "does not serve the political process, the situation and the future of Iraq."Įfforts to draft a comprehensive oil and gas law that would govern the KRG's crude sales have long been stalled, with no prospect of resolution. The federal Iraq oil ministry and SOMO did not respond to requests for comment. "If there are more cuts by OPEC in the future and the KRG would be responsible to do the cuts and if KRG can not supply 400,000 b/d to SOMO, then the KRG would have trouble getting its budget," Ghafuri said. For May, SOMO reported the country's output at 3.955 million b/d, which means a full resumption of KRG production would likely put Iraq above its quota. That limits Iraq to a quota of 4.21 million b/d. Iraq, which has often accused the KRG of not sharing the load on the country's pledged OPEC quotas, in April agreed to a voluntary 211,000 b/d production cut on top of its existing 372,000 b/d reduction from October levels, as the producer bloc and its allies seek to boost oil prices. Lawk Ghafuri, a political analyst and former head of foreign media affairs for the KRG, said future OPEC cuts could make it difficult for Kurdistan to meet its 400,000 b/d target. The region's oil and gas operations have been targeted several times by drone and missile attacks over the past few years, in strikes mostly attributed to Iranian affiliated groups opposed to Kurdish autonomy. A prolonged standoff could further imperil oil and gas investment, many companies have said.īy conditioning the KRG's share of the budget on supplying SOMO with 400,000 b/d of crude, even with the restart of exports, Kurdistan could be vulnerable to disruptions, such as field outages or attacks. Turkish authorities subsequently closed the pipeline, and Kurdish production has cratered as a result - from a typical level of about 450,000 b/d to just 22,000 b/d in April, according to SOMO data.Īs a result, the Mediterranean market has been deprived of a typically robust supplier of sour crude, with operators in Kurdistan having to turn off the taps as crude storage facilities reached maximum capacity. The KRG had previously independently marketed its crude until an international arbitration ruling in March said such sales via Ceyhan violated a bilateral agreement between Turkey and Iraq. "Needless to say, Iraq is losing an enormous amount of revenues and the KRG's deficit is only growing while the dispute over oil exports is unresolved." "Regardless of what is agreed in the budget and the shenanigans in Parliament, resumption of oil export via Ceyhan is key for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq's oil sector," said Shwan Zulal, managing director of London-based Carduchi Consulting. To many Kurds, it paves the way for Baghdad to take more control over the region's oil exports and budget and could complicate plans to revive shuttered crude production.Īs it stands, the Kurdistan Regional Government has no way of pumping anywhere close to 400,000 b/d, with its lone pipeline outlet, to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, shuttered over a political and financial dispute between Baghdad and Ankara. The budget, passed June 12 following four days of late-night voting and intense debates within Iraq's parliament - including on controversial amendments decried by Kurdish officials - calls for $152 billion in spending, allocated for the years 2023, 20.įor Kurdistan, it essentially locks in the region to handing over 400,000 b/d of its crude production to federal oil marketer SOMO, in order to receive its agreed 12.6% of federal funding.
